I Don’t Love You

Thanks to everyone who has helped this poem blow up!

Another poem I wrote on the fly. This goes out to anyone who feels they have truly loved not just been “in love”. I don’t usually do love poems, but I felt like switching it up on this particular night. Enjoy my unusual view on love everyone.

What are romantic elements in poetry?

Also what are romantic elements in the book The Awakening?

Romantic elements in poetry during the Romanticism are not what we call romantic today. It was more about poetic in general. It’s all about intuition, imagination, feeling (even if they are bad) and also irrationalism.
The French Revolution triggered a period of nationalism as well.
Hope I was able to give you an idea. I haven’t read the book

I love poetry but have a hard time finding some really good material?

Can anyone recommend poets that have really good material?
Thanks

Edgar Allan Poe (a bit dark, but deep…)
- Dream Within a Dream
- Eldorado
- The Raven *** (most famous)
- To Helen

Maya Angelou
-On The Pulse of Morning
-Million Man March Poem
-Phenomenal Woman
-Recovery
-Equality

Robert Frost

Emily Dickinson

E. E. Cummings

Shel Silverstein (Where the Sidewalk Ends) simple and fun…

(Of Course…)
William Shakespeare

I’ve been interested in poetry lately. Know any good poetry books that would appeal to a college kid?

I’ve read most classic poetry, but I just can’t relate to it very well. I’m interested in something I can connect with.

I read this book titled "The Robot and the City" by Julian Blanchard. He is a 19 year old boy who wrote all of the poems, and they are surprisingly fantastic. I can relate to every single one of them. You can buy the book online at this website, and there’s also a few sample poems you can read.

and also, you can become his fan on facebook, he’s pretty hot too :]

Hope you enjoy it!

How do I get my poems published?

I love poetry so much and I have wrote a bunch of poems. I would love to get them published. Like all of them in one book. I also have some short stories and stuff like that.

I did as Trixie suggested and have had a few published. Some are harder to get excepted to than others. Just keep trying.

If you would like a hardbound book for yourself, relatives and friends try MyPublisher.com and create your own. Their books are nice. You can use their templates as they are or create your own jpeg pages using something like Photoshop and insert them in the templates .

Good luck!

What is the best way to learn about poetry, in your opinion?

I’ve always liked poetry, but never had any kind of formal education beyond the usual grade school and Shakespeare stuff.
Are there any books you would suggest reading to learn more about poetry and how to write it?

Read the poetry. That is what I did. I learned the basics in High School. We read most of the important Poe, Frost, Thoreau, Longfellow, Kipling and Dickinson works by my Senior year.

I started independently studying and writing poetry, off and on, when I was 27 or 28. I got discouraged after being turned down for publication. I started writing again when I was 35. I have been writing semi-steadily since then, about 15 years.
