Why the important genre in victorian age was novel while in romantic period was poetry?

Maybe the poetry in the romantic period was better than the fiction and vice versa in the victorian age.

Poems about poetry or love of the written word?

I am looking for poems/quotes about poetry itself or the love of writing.

I haven’t had much luck…Help!
I’m actually a poet and considering getting a tattoo of a quote or poem to reflect my deep love for the written word.

I could write it myself, but I was just wondering what was out there..

At this site, you can use the "Poetry Tool" feature to search by category. One of the available categories is "arts & sciences." In that category, you’ll find quite a few poems about poetry.

Can anyone help me become an author? I wrote a childrens book 2 poetry books and a celebrity diary type book?

I tried to get an agent but they are so hard to get so if anyone is involved in a publishing company or is a literaray agent or can help me in the right dirrection to becoming an author and cut through the red tape Id appreciate it. Can anyone help me to become an author?

Join something like this writer circle http://www.mywriterscircle.com/ you’ll be in touch with loads of people who’ll be glad to offer advice and will critique parts of your work.

You’ll become part of the writing community and ‘feel’ as if you ARE a writer.

I’ve been a member for a while, and have always found it useful. They’re a friendly bunch – give it a whiz.

Keep on trying

Lovely friendship poems for my best friends 18th?

I’m planning on making her a scrapbook and I wanted to start off with a poem about friendship or the likes. She likes Plath but I’m a) not sure of her work and b) dubious as to whether or not she (being Plath) wrote any non-gloomy poems.

We’re not overly smooshy, I just wanted something nice. Does anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated.

I recommend this poem

Ode To My True Friend by Elizabeth Pinard
The day I met you
I found a friend -
And a friendship that
I pray will never end.

Your smile – so sweet
And so bright -
Kept me going
When day was as dark as night.

You never ever judged me,
You understood my sorrow.
Then you told me it needn’t be that way
And gave me the hope of a better tomorrow.

You were always there for me,
I knew I could count on you.
You gave me advice and encouragement
Whenever I didn’t know what to do.

You helped me learn to love myself
You made life seem so good.
You said I can do anything I put my mind to
And suddenly I knew I could.

There were times when we didn’t see eye to eye
And there were days when both of us cried.
But even so we made it through:
Our friendship hasn’t yet died.

Circumstances have pulled us apart,
We are separated by many miles.
Truly, the only thing that keeps me going
Is my treasured memory of your smile.

This friendship we share
Is so precious to me,
I hope it grows and flourishes
And lasts unto infinity.

You are so extra-special to me
And so this to you I really must tell:
You are my one true friend,
My Guardian Angel.

Our friendship is one-in-a-million
So let’s hold on to it and each other.
We cannot let this chance of pure bliss fly away
For there will never be another.

I love you.
I will always love you.

How should I make magnetic poetry for the wall?

I’ve just cleared off a wall and want to turn the entire wall into an area for something like magnetic poetry, where I could print out and cut out a bunch of words and somehow attach them to my wall and moving them around, forming sentences. Of course, my wall isn’t a magnet. I don’t want to poke a million holes in my walls either. Does anyone have some creative ideas as to how I can achieve this?

there are a lot of website that you can use to make magnetic poetry with, then print it out. sorry, but i can’t remember the site names. just try googling it.
