Let me give you an honest answer to your question based on my experiences with these things in the past.

For the majority of girls out there, writing pages of love poetry is indeed creepy, as you found out. However, as the lovely lady above said, it really depends on who the girl is, and it’s true that there are some girls who would really appreciate something like that. But the truth is, most will definitely not.

It’s not about the meaning of the poetry that turns them away. I agree that writing poetry shows that you care, that you’re a passionate and sensitive guy, and girls like that. But you need to find a different way to show this about yourself, because what turn girls off in your situations are the social implications.

If a guy writes *pages* of love poetry for a girl, you can assume that he put a lot of time and effort into it, right? Now that’s not inherent *wrong*, but it is indeed pretty strange for today’s cultural standards. Most girls won’t react to it by seeing a guy who loves and cares for them deeply, but instead a guy who is obsessive and possibly clingy. This in turn makes them feel smothered, and they’re likely to back off.

Girls like guys who are independent and has their own hobbies and activities apart from their lives with them. If you like to write, it’s okay to write about something else, but writing about your love for a girl really shows that you are doting on them way too much. Now remember, some girls really would like a guy to write pages and pages of poetry to her, but most really wouldn’t.

What I would suggest doing is laying off most of that stuff, but not all of it. You definitely should do something special for your girl, because it’ll set you apart from most of the other heartless douches out there. But try to keep it simple and to the point. Write a nice, short, sweet poem for her. Keep it short and contemporary. A 20 page ballad will NOT do, for example. Maybe a page with a few haikus on it. It would show her you cared without going overboard. You get it.

when i was in the 6th grade my teacher was supposed to publish one of my poetry books i made and i never got in contact with the people.Right now im 14 and i really love writing and i want somebody to take a look at my writing or something!

If you want someone to look over your writing, ask someone who’s opinion you trust and take what ever good or negative feedback and reflect on it.
And congrats on finding something you love, not everyone know what they like and enjoy.

Did u mean "our". And yes. Love is one of the most written and explored emotions ever in poetry. poetry would nearly be pointless if it wasn’t for love. Love poems actually follow amazingly repetitive, and almost cliche patterns, yet one could read these poem for years and never get bored. Love poems are often done about a person of admiration or a story about a couple.

All cultures explored the concept of love, especially in poetry. The Ancient Egyptian were very advanced and interlligent. The Egyptians were very sexually liberal, but still had a certain class system, so a good lot of their love poems could have been about forbidden love and about the sensual and sexual side of love itself. The Egypt is a beautiful country and many metaphors would have used to the scenery as a prop to suggest how beautiful their loved one were.
