except for the removed part, lol!! i was so stoked when i found out i was related to him though, and i think he would be my 2nd cousin. but im not sure how all of that stuff works, but my mom says she can definitely tell that we are related by the way i write, i guess i have a very distinctive writing style.

this is so corny but i guess it has to be viewed in the context of its time. Steve Allen playing his cliche piano licks trying to sound smart. No surprise that Kerouac had to be drunk usually to answer these dumb-ass questions. Makes me cringe just to listen. Don’t ask artists anything-just take the in and make of it what you can.

I’ve seen and heard …
I’ve seen and heard several Kerouac interviews and this is by far the best. Not only due to Steve Allen (tho it helps) but because JK seems to be sober. In later years his public appearances were drunken disasters; treasure this one!

I’d look to see if this has already been asked, but it would be sort of a pain to sift through 224 comments I guess; In my copy of On the Road, the person he calls “Dean Moriarty” in this video, he instead calls, “Neal Cassady” anybody know what’s up with that?
